MICHAL SOBKOWIAK TRIO
Michal Sobkowiak is a Polish born master of classical piano. In Japan he has become widely recognised for his excellence in Chopin recitals and as a music educator and professor of piano.
However, Michal has been enthused by Jazz for long and fell in love with the musical form, imbibing it into his very soul, and the result of his meticulous technique and passion for improvisation, his playing is stunning. Michal is not only a force to be reckoned with in the Classical world, but also a real contender in the Jazz circuit too. It is with great pride and enjoyment that I play in this format, and although our concerts are not so regular at the moment, I look forward to each and every one with great enthusiasm.
Apart from Michal on piano and myself on bass and occasionally vocals, we often have Kohsuke Takahashi join us on the drums, and have sometimes extended the core group to include percussion, saxophone and clarinet.
